Extend-A-Cool Test ResultsVarious in vivo tests were conducted to determine the efficacy of
Extend-A-Cool according to real-life application situations.
Test 1. Extend-A-Cool & Resting Race Horses Methodology A cooling sheet was applied to resting racehorses to measure the
cooling action when body heat was normal. This was conducted in order to
see how body heat might impact the longevity of cooling action. The sample
sheet was stored at room temperature. Test Results
Test 2. Application Following Race Horse Training Methodology In this test, racehorses were trained under normal conditions and then cooled down for 30-minutes, followed by leg washing for ten-minutes. An Extend-A-Cool sheet and wrap were applied to the calf and shin of the front leg, and a temperature sensor was placed between the leg's surface and the sample. The left leg (control) had a temperature sensor wrapped by an Extend-A-Cool wrap only. Sensors were connected to a recorder attached to the horse's mane, and measurements were taken for two hours in one-minute intervals. Test Results
Test 3. Application Following Pleasure Horse Riding Methodology In this test, a pleasure horse was taken for a brief ride. Five minutes later, an Extend-A-Cool sheet and wrap were applied to the calf and shin of the right leg, with temperature sensors attached as in prior tests. An Extend-A-Cool wrap was placed on the left leg as a control, and temperatures of both legs were measured for 2.5 hours at one-minute intervals. Test Results
Additional Technical Data Extend-A-Cool may not be enough for more serious cases of tendonitis where hematomas exist; however, when used in conjunction with ice massages and other regimens established by the equine medical community, Extend-A-Cool can extend cooling therapy up to 6-hours for each transdermal sheet used.
